ENT UK is committed to improving the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ENT-related conditions and ensuring the best outcomes for patients.
The Chief Executive Officer position was appointed in November and Amanda started soon after in December.
ENT UK approached Charity People to recruit a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who could take their first organisational strategy forward and build on the significant progress made by their outgoing CEO.
Janet Legget-Jones, a trustee of ENT UK, explained the challenges:
“We needed a new CEO to replace a brilliant person who had formalised much of our governance and structure. Initially, we were concerned about finding candidates who could fill such large shoes, but we were pleasantly surprised when three strong candidates emerged, making the decision a difficult one.”
Charity People’s Associate Director, Glen Manners, led on the successful appointment of ENTUK’s previous CEO, Katie Nurcombe so was already familiar with many of the nuances of the post and organisation. Glen worked closely with ENTUK to first understand how these organisational needs had developed since, includingworking culture and their vision for the future. Janet commented on the support received during this time:
”Glen was fantastic. The process was very efficient, and his guidance during decision-making was invaluable.

Glen reflected on the process:
“I knew the post was going to be popular, both with seasoned sector-leaders and aspirational CEO’s. Katie, their CEO and the Trustees were incredibly generous with their time to collaborate in devising three bespoke qualifying questions to accompany CV’s, providing invaluable insight into each applicant. It was also a privilege to be part of the interview panel and lend my support and expertisewithin this key phase of the process.”
After the selection process, Amanda Stratford was appointed as the new CEO. She shares her journey:
“I was looking for a small to medium-sized organisation in the health sector where I could make a real difference. This is likely the last role of my career, and I wanted to dedicate the next five to seven years to something meaningful. When I met the chair and trustees, I felt a real connection and knew I could work well with them.”
Amanda was happy with the support she received from Glen throughout the recruitment process:
”Glen was brilliant. I’ve worked with several recruiters in my career, but he stood out for his human approach and genuine support. He gave me the confidence to apply and helped me navigate the process seamlessly. I’d definitely recommend working with Charity People based on this experience.

Amanda shared her aspirations for ENT UK:
“ENT UK has a solid foundation thanks to the work of the outgoing CEO. My goal is to grow the organisation’s membership, enhance its influence, and ensure it becomes a strong national voice for ENT professionals. I’malso committed to supporting and developing our team, ensuring they excel in their roles and help deliver our organisational goals.”
Janet expressed her excitement for the future:
”We’re looking forward to moving forward with lots of exciting projects and a superb new CEO at the helm.
