Nick started recruiting in the charity sector in 2009, joining Charity People in 2015. In a case of somewhat unfortunate timing, Nick took over leading Charity People in March 2020, around about the time that something called Covid-19 started spreading across the UK.
Fortunately that now feels like a distant memory and the last few years have seen Charity People grow in size and profile, whilst adapting to a more quality focussed way of working.
When he is not at CP HQ, Nick can be found running around after three small children, chairing his children’s PTA charity, or being forever disappointed whilst watching his football team, Tottenham.
”Finding great quality fundraisers, particularly at a senior level, can be a lengthy and challenging process. When I am recruiting, I don't hesitate to contact Nick who takes time to really understand what I'm looking for and provides honest and constructive feedback before embarking on the brief. I have worked with him to fill a wide range of positions in a number of teams and he has responded every time with quality candidates. It's good to work with a recruitment consultant with such integrity and a listening ear who is more interested in getting you the right person than closing a sale.

”Nick is one of the recruitment consultants I've most enjoyed dealing with as a candidate. He takes time to get to you know you and your career aspirations, and I felt he offered really balanced advice as I weighed up possible options. When I had questions about a particular role, he was incredibly responsive and facilitated meetings and phone calls for me with the organisation. He's highly personable and highly professional - a great combination.

”I have found Nick's client management skills to be the perfect balance of keeping in touch, sending relevant updates and information or opportunities, with prompt follow up and thoughtful matching of roles. This sort of intelligent customer care is hard to find in today's buy recruitment market.
Justine WebbAssistant Director of Income Generation (Partnerships & Philanthropy), RSPCA
”A conversation with Nick once set me on the path to a career in philanthropy. He was insightful and generous with his advice then, and continues to be an honest and thoughtful contact amidst a sea of recruitment noise.

”Nick has been great on both client and candidate side. His pragmatic approach is extremely welcomed. I would definitely recommend Nick and will certainly utilise his services on both sides in the future.

”The best thing about Charity People is that the candidate they are able to find not only have the skills we're looking for, but more than that, they have an eye for finding candiates with a good culture fit to our organisation.

”I have worked with Nick both in my role at King's and Tommy's. His warm and professional approach makes Nick a stand-out recruitment consultant who takes a genuine interest in matching the right candidates, with the right roles. He makes the process so much more easy and rewarding with his extensive knowledge of the charity sector and his wide network of contacts. I would highly recommend working with Nick, he has found me some of the most talented fundraising stars I've ever worked with!
Caroline GormleyAssociate Director of Fundraising, Evelina London Children’s Hospital
”I have worked with Charity People and Nick Billingham for well over ten years. Charity People have all the positive attributes of a small, family run company with all the clout and expertise of a much, much larger organisaion. They are genuinely interested in both the charity and the candidates which makes a change from some other recruiters who tend to give you a block of people on their books without much thought to mix or fit. Nick is great to know and work with and takes time to get to know you and how you best work. He is always full of useful insight into the sector and trends.
