Assistant Director of Finance

 

Are you a strategically focused finance professional with the skills to both lead a finance team and support colleagues in other departments with financial planning, analysis and budgeting?

 

Charity People are proud to be working with the National Literacy Trust, a leading national charity, to recruit for the newly created role of Assistant Director of Finance. The charity is growing rapidly and income is now £12million. Working closely with and reporting to the Director of Operations, you will lead our finance operations, line managing a Head of Finance and responsible for their three direct reports. You will also be part of the charity’s extended leadership team.

 

Salary: £65,500 – £70,000 per annum + 8% employer pension contributions

Contract: 35 hours per week, full time, permanent

Hybrid: Flexible home working, working from the office in Vauxhall approximately once a week

This is an exciting time to join this ambitious and growing charity. Candidates applying for this role must have experience of strategic financial planning and development of financial strategy. You will also be responsible for streamlining and improving our financial systems and integration with other systems across the organisation.

Some of your key duties and responsibilities are;

  • Produce the three-year financial plan and associated financial modelling
  • Produce and implement the financial strategy that underpins the three-year plan
  • Lead all financial planning and analysis including forecasting, budgeting and cash management
  • Lead the finance department, providing effective line management and team support, overseeing the quality of our financial reporting and ensuring that all statutory requirements are met
  • Work closely with Head of Finance and Company Secretary to complete and file statutory accounts and all related reporting
  • Prepare Trustee Reports analysing performance and risk analysis
  • Collaborate with Department Heads and Directors to create budgets and reports and track key performance indicators
  • Support KPI reporting across the organisation

Candidates applying for this role must have the following:

  • A recognised CCAB qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)

  • Strong on Restricted and Unrestricted funds
  • Managing and empowering the Finance team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence

Interview date:

First stage interview on 20th August, 2024 (via MSTeams). There will be a short task the candidates will need to complete prior to the interview

Second stage interview on 29th August, 2024 – Face to face. You will be asked to prepare a presentation to the panel, with details shared in advance
