Charity People are delighted to be partnering with Moorfields Eye Charity to recruit for a Communications Assistant to join their talented team. Primarily a digital communications position, the postholder will support the implementation of the charity’s communications strategy.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong digital skills across social media and video and wider multimedia content production to join a charity that supports scientific research, new technologies including AI, and innovation that saves sight.
The charity helps Moorfields Eye Hospital ensure it provides the best possible care for its patients, educates the researchers and clinicians of tomorrow, and supports leading-edge research that aims to develop new treatments for blinding diseases.
About the role
As Communications Assistant you will be a core part of a small and talented team responsible for building the external and internal profile of Moorfields Eye Charity to a wide range of audiences. You will be responsible for:
- Creating and coordinating a content plan for social media in partnership with colleagues
- Posting content on social media, engaging with online stakeholders and monitoring the social media accounts across X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok
- Supporting with the production of email communications using MailChimp including creating the newsletter
- Operating the CMS for the charity’s website including keeping the site updated and optimised for search engines
- Contributing to the writing and editing of impactful copy to use across a range of the charity’s channels including website news stories, social media, marketing publications, and internal news
- Creating and editing digital graphics for use online using Photoshop
- Supporting with the production of videos, podcasts and photographic assets including editing videos and assisting with film production
About you
We’d love to see applications from individuals with the following skills and experience:
- Website, CMS, and copywriting experience as well as of working with social media and digital platforms within a digital communications position
- Experience of filming and editing video and audio content, and of producing and editing photographs and digital graphics using Photoshop
- Proven ability to write and edit engaging copy for different audiences across a variety of communication styles and channels
- Demonstrable understanding of effective digital communications and a willingness to keep up to date with technologies and developments
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; copy writing proof reading skills
- Excellent IT skills, including using Content Management Systems, email marketing systems, social media tools, HTML, and web analytics
