Senior Communications Officer

(ÂŁ38,000-ÂŁ40,000)

This role offers either home working or a flexible work arrangement, allowing for a combination of remote work and office presence in central London.

We are excited to be working in partnership with The British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH), “the premier surgical specialty organisation representing hand surgeons in the UK”

BSSH aims to advance the field of Hand Surgery through education, research, and the improvement of patient outcomes.

Travel is required, including attendance at meetings held across the UK. Some evening and weekend work is expected, with the option to take time in lieu.

Within this busy and varied role you can expect to work with full autonomy with the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the team, Trustees, and Members to execute the Society’s communications strategy.
  • Assist the Event Manager in effective communication aspects of event delivery.
  • Project manage regular communications for members, including newsletters, eBulletins, and mass mailings.
  • Support and work alongside two committees – Communications and Global Partnerships
  • Develop and manage the BSSH communications calendar.
  • Create high-quality digital and print communications.
  • Oversee the integration of the website with the membership database.
  • Develop the online membership portal and enhance functionality.
  • Edit video content for the website and social media channels.
  • External Communications (with some Media/Press queries)
  • Provide general support to team (11) and members with any communications queries.

We’re looking for someone who can make sound decisions, effectively manage priorities, and bring a wealth of communications skills, knowledge and best practice.
