Are you a senior content and engagement professional, with experience working with customer or member-centric audiences?

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is seeking a Head of Content and Engagement to join our organization as a key member of the Senior Management Team for a 12 month fixed term contract.

This role is predominantly home-based, with a requirement to be in the office at least once a month and more should you wish.

As the leading professional body for psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors, UKCP represents over 9,000 individual therapists and training organizations, working towards improving access to psychotherapy and maintaining high standards within the field.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will provide strong leadership and be responsible for all aspects of communication, both internally and externally. The successful candidate will lead an enthusiastic team (of 5), passionate about the benefits of psychotherapy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate tailored content to drive engagement among internal and external audiences.
  • Commission or direct in-house creation of content across multiple platforms and channels to effectively communicate key messages and desired outcomes.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders internally to define and tell the story of UKCP.
  • Support the Chief Executive and Board in leading and managing the delivery of UKCP objectives.

Duties include:

  • Reviewing UKCP strategy with SMT and feeding in to the development of content strategy.
  • Ensure content strategy aligns with UKCP’s short- and long-term objectives.
  • Ensure content is consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone, and optimized for search and user experience.
  • Conduct usability tests, gather data, handle analytics, make recommendations based on results.
  • Establish standards, systems and best practices for content creation, distribution, and repurposing.
  • Provide guidance to deliver successful and impactful events aligned with the events strategy.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure a consistent message across channels.
  • Work with policy and research teams to deliver effective campaigns.
  • Influence and support the approval process by the Board of Trustees.
  • Provide peer support to the SMT, cover as required, and deputise for Chief Executive internally or externally.
  • Prepare papers, reports, and presentations for internal and external meetings.
  • Provide exemplary leadership and line management.

Essential Experience:

  • Successful experience leading and managing internal and external campaigns – ideally within a research, membership or customer-focussed context.
  • Fluency in web analytics and search engine optimisation.
  • Experience working in partnership with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyse data and develop reports for wider dissemination.
  • Strategic planning and budget management skills.
  • Experience managing third-party contracts and staff.
  • Proven editorial skills and outstanding command of the English language.
  • Long-form content creation and real-time content marketing.
  • Project management skills to manage editorial schedules and deadlines.
