Interim Head of Digital
National Literacy Trust
Location: this role is contracted to London and is a hybrid working role with some office time expected – a minimum of around six visits per year and the postholder can predominantly work from home outside of these occasions. Should you be keen to be in London more regularly that is very much an option also
Contract: Fixed term for up to six months paying £50,000 to £55,000 per year, with the potential to become permanent
Charity People are delighted to be partnering with National Literacy Trust to recruit an Interim Head of Digital to lead the development and delivery of their digital transformation, which sits at the heart of their strategy. This is a brilliant opportunity to use your skills to increase awareness among both consumer and professional audiences, which will in turn support the income generation and sustainability of the National Literacy Trust and the important work they do.
The National Literacy Trust empowers children, young people and adults from disadvantaged communities with the literacy skills they need to succeed. They work directly with young people and their families, with the 5,000 schools in these communities, with nurseries, prisons, YOIs and through our teams leading community literacy programmes in 20 places in the UK facing the biggest literacy and poverty challenges. Their research makes them the leading authority on literacy and drives all their work. They are committed to becoming a more diverse and inclusive charity, better at listening to and working in partnership with the communities they exist to serve. Literacy is a vital element of action against poverty and their work changes people’s life stories.
About the role
As the Interim Head of Digital, you will be responsible for leading the creation and implementation of the National Literacy Trust’s digital strategy, including their web platforms, content and social media.
You will be responsible for:
- Direct the strategy for their digital proposition and ecosystem, overseeing project delivery, technology and change management to embed systems and approaches and maximise the potential of digital developments
- Lead and manage external-facing digital activity, websites and social channels, leading delivery of key digital projects where appropriate
- Work with the Director of Marketing and Communications to build, implement, and maintain a consistent and high impact brand strategy
- Ensure their brand and messaging is consistent through all digital channels, transforming the customer journey
- Lead high-quality campaign activity – on the charity’s websites, through social and publications and events – that will demonstrate their thought leadership and influence policymakers and politicians
- Develop content for websites, social media and newsletters
About you
We’d love to see applications from individuals with the following skills and experience:
- Demonstratable experience in a senior digital management role, including working with external agencies
- Digital project/product delivery experience
- Leadership of digital strategy and supporting wider organisational strategy development
- Influencing public opinion and/or behaviour through communications and marketing
- Leading and motivating a digital team
- Leading consumer-facing campaigns
