U3A: Interim Head of Marketing (12-Month Contract)

Location: Hybrid – London, 2-3 days from their Blackfriars office.
Contract: Interim, 12 months FTC

The u3a movement is one of the UK’s largest membership organisations, with over 400,000 members and 1,000+ local groups. Each u3a offers opportunities for people in later life to learn, share skills, and connect for fun. At the heart of this movement is the Third Age Trust – the national charity supporting local u3as, raising awareness, and championing positive ageing and lifelong learning.

The Opportunity
For the first time, U3A is recruiting a Head of Marketing and looking for you to create a new dedicated marketing strategy to transform how the organisation engages with members, partners, and the wider public. This newly created interim role is perfect for a commercially minded Marketing Strategist who thrives on building something from the ground up.
You’ll lead the development of U3A’s new marketing strategy, shifting the organisation from a communications-led approach to a marketing-centric function. Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, you’ll shape U3A’s brand positioning, drive audience engagement, and lay the foundations for long-term awareness riaisng and membership growth.

What We’re Looking For

* A strategic thinker with proven experience in senior marketing leadership roles.
* Someone who can combine creativity with data-driven insight to deliver measurable impact.
* A collaborative leader who can inspire a small team and work effectively with volunteers and stakeholders.
* Experience from the membership sector is desirable, but not essential.
