We are recruiting on behalf of Royal College of Emergency Medicine to recruit their new Psychometrician. You will support the college and their commitment to maintaining high standards in examinations and assessments for medical professionals. As a Psychometrician you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our examination results and supporting the continuous improvement of our assessment processes.
Reporting to the Head of Quality and Standards, you will collaborate with key stakeholders within the organisation, including the Examinations Department and College Officers, to analyse and develop their examinations and assessments. Your expertise in data analysis and research methodology will contribute to the enhancement of their examination processes and uphold the highest standards of quality assurance.
This is a hybrid role, with a need to be office-based (London Bridge), just 5 days per month, with the remainder working from home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all RCEM Results processes to deliver accurate and reliable results to candidates.
- Lead and supervise the Data Analyst.
- Oversee standard setting of summative assessments and approval.
- Ensure the publication of results and associated quality assurance processes.
- Conduct data analysis and evaluation of the College’s examinations, producing detailed narrative reports.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop, pilot, and evaluate assessment tools to meet statutory requirements.
- Contribute to the design, monitoring, and delivery of all College examinations.
- Provide training in new procedures and psychometric processes to relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare submissions to the GMC’s Curriculum Advisory Group, ensuring compliance with GMC Standards and the College’s Public Sector Equality Duty.
- Deliver complex information, including policy and regulation documentation for various stakeholder groups.
- Conduct and collaborate on medical education research with a focus on summative examinations.
- Advise on developments in examinations and medical education to relevant stakeholders.
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience in a similar role as a Psychometrician.
- Relevant experience in research methodology, quantitative data analysis, and producing meaningful reports.
- Proficiency in IT software for data management and analysis, particularly MS Excel and SPSS.
- Proven ability to work under deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong written, numerical, and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail while handling complex tasks.
- Willingness to learn new software packages.
