The Project
Family Holiday Charity is a UK-based organisation dedicated to giving families facing tough times the chance to enjoy a much-needed break. Whether it’s a few days by the sea or a countryside escape, the charity believes in the transformative power of holidays to strengthen relationships, improve mental health, and build lasting memories. Charity People supported Family Holiday Charity in the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer.
Our Approach
Family Holiday Charity was entering a new chapter, facing sector-wide financial pressures, evolving strategic priorities, and exciting opportunities to engage the travel industry and tech platforms. The Board sought a visionary leader who could steer the organisation through this transition, while remaining deeply connected to its mission of supporting families in need.
Charity People worked closely with the Board to shape a recruitment campaign that was values-led, equitable and strategically focused. The brief called for a resilient and adaptable leader with experience in stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and organisational development.
The process was designed to surface candidates who not only met the technical requirements but also aligned with the charity’s ethos and culture. Charity People facilitated open and honest conversations with candidates, helping them understand both the opportunity and the challenges ahead.
The Outcome
Rob Parkinson was appointed as Chief Executive Officer. With a strong track record in charity leadership and stakeholder engagement, Rob brings the strategic mindset, compassion, and energy needed to lead Family Holiday Charity into its next phase. His appointment marks a significant moment for the charity in strengthening its leadership, deepening its sector partnerships, and reaffirming its commitment to making holidays possible for families who need them most.
