Position – Chief Executive Officer

Salary – £70,000 – £75,000 per annum

Location – Guildford, Surrey

Type – Hybrid, 3 days in office per week

 

Who we are

We are a leading carers support charity with an excellent local and national reputation. We support Surrey’s unpaid carers, of all ages, by phone, through face-to-face meetings, workshops, wellbeing events and training.

This includes information on rights and benefits, guidance on moving and handling (including back care), advocacy, and other practical and emotional help.

We also run regular Carer Hubs at 14 locations across Surrey, as well as support groups and wellbeing events, and provide a wide range of free resources.

We have specialist support available for young carers (aged 5-17), and staff working in Surrey’s hospitals. We also support and train health, social and education professionals.

About the CEO Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Chief Executive or an aspiring Chief Executive. Reporting to the Chair of Board of Trustees, the CEO will provide robust leadership and strategic direction, supporting us to achieve our objectives. The CEO will be responsible for managing relationships with statutory partners, ensuring that we maximise income within existing contracts whilst also looking for new growth opportunities. The CEO will also be required to develop and maintain relationships both locally and nationally to encourage partnerships that support and enable the delivery of our vision, mission and strategic objectives.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone with knowledge of the voluntary sector, charity law and regulations. We welcome applications from individuals who come directly from the charity sector, as well as from individuals outside of the sector who have a comprehensive understanding of how the sector operates.

To succeed in the role, you will need to have:

  • A proven, established work history showing progression in Senior/Executive roles.
  • A track record of success in managing and motivating management teams to achieve excellent results.
  • Experience negotiating, presenting reports, and where necessary having robust conversations with local government or statutory partners.
  • An ability to develop effective working relationships with a range of organisations, partners and stakeholders, funders and users of services.
  • An understanding of and empathy with the demands facing carers of all ages and their support needs.
  • A commitment to equality and diversity and the ability to integrate this into all aspects of the organisation.
