Why are we doing this?
The journey to charity leadership can be a lonely one. With charities across the sector facing increasing pressure, new leaders need a safe space and a trustworthy sounding board to navigate the challenges of the role.
Charity People’s Mentoring Programme connects new and aspiring charity CEOs to experienced leaders across the sector. Our mentors give their time because they want to see new leaders thrive, in order to better serve the causes they are working for.
Our aim is to use our existing networks to equip a new generation of charity leaders and build a pipeline of fresh candidates for CEO roles.
We want to see the charity sector, including its leaders, reflect the diversity of the people we serve. That’s why 40% of the places on this scheme will go to members of underrepresented groups.
”I found my mentors advice incredibly useful, particularly in developing clarity in my strategic thinking, and understanding how to cut through the complexities of running an organisation, distilling it to a ‘laser-focus’ on the two key concepts of money and purpose. He gave me the confidence to articulate this, and to have faith in my own approach. He has been so generous with his time and energy and I would like to think that the experience has also been useful for him. Thank you so much for organising this valuable experience.
”I have just finished my mentoring sessions with Susanette Mansour. They were incredibly useful and I am really grateful to you for setting them up. As well as her wealth of experience and knowledge, Susanette exudes calmness and visionary thinking. I have learnt and absorbed a great deal from her.
I will be forever grateful to Susanette for helping me in my first few months as CEO and Charity People for enabling that.
”Crispin has been amazing with helping me improve my clarity around my strengths and areas of development. This information has helped me map in more detail all possible next career steps and refine my plans going forward. Crispin has also been invaluable in supporting me to revise my cv and make it more concise and powerful in conveying my achievements.
Crispin has been very professional in his approach, caring and supportive and has helped me to brainstorm solutions for many situations. He also empowered me to look into areas of growth beyond my comfort zone and get a wider perspective on the trajectory within the charity sector. He has also helped me to assess situations and offers that have come my way and enabled me to make quick decisions.
I highly recommend Crispin as a mentor to any senior professional that is going through a career development phase. He has both the expertise, knowledge, ethics and mentoring skills to support them to take their next step forward.

Who are the mentors?
Our Mentoring Network brings together experienced leaders within the charity sector – including existing and former CEOs, Board Advisors and other senior leaders.
They bring a wide variety of skills, wisdom and practical know-how from years spent across the charity sector. And they all have prior experience of mentoring, so you’ll be able to start benefiting from their knowledge right away.
