Job Title: Executive Director
Place of work: Calthorpe Community Garden, 258-274 Grays Inn Rd, London WC1X 8LH
Salary: £60,000 pro-rata (£36,000 for 0.6FTE / 24 hours)
Contract type: Permanent
Hours: Part-time, 24 hours per week (0.6 FTE), with requirement to occasionally work evenings and weekends where required. Distribution of hours over the week is flexible.
Annual leave: 27 days plus bank holidays (pro rata)
Responsible for: Operations Manager, Finance Manager, Staff team, volunteer groups.
Reporting to: Board of Trustees
We are seeking an impactful, collaborative and proactive Executive Director who holds community and environmental sustainability close to their heart to lead the next phase of implementing our mission and vision as a Community Garden.
About the organisation:
Our Community Garden has served as a hub for social interaction, support and enrichment for local residents of all backgrounds. For nearly 40 years, we have played an integral part in the local community having focused on grassroots collaboration to ensure a lasting impact is felt on the lives of our local community and beyond. This has been achieved by undertaking crucial work such as:
- Gardening volunteering programmes
- Cooking workshops and community lunches
- Sports programmes
- Early Years and Weekend Play
- Refugee charity partnerships
About the role:
Following a nearly two year hiatus, we are now in search of a passionate and suitably experienced Director who will be able to lead the charity into this new period of positive growth as well as helping to shape the strategy for what looks to be a vital period for the charity.
The overall purpose of the role will involve management of the day-to-day running of Calthorpe Community Garden including site, staff, garden, projects, income generation and health and safety. Line-managing Operations Manager, Community Engagement Manager, Finance Manager.

- Strategic Oversight
- Governance and Management
- Fundraising and Marketing
- Budgeting and Finances
Closing deadline – Monday 26th February
First round interviews – week commencing 11th March
Final round interviews – week commencing 18th March
